Shabbat of a Lifetime

The Shabbat of a Lifetime program offers an opportunity for incoming tourists of all backgrounds to experience an Authentic Shabbat (Jewish Sabbath) at the home of a host family in the heart of Jerusalem. Shabbat of a Lifetime participants receive an informative introduction to Shabbat while dining on a five-course meal with their hosts. Over the past 9 years, nearly 93,000 guests from around the world have joined Shabbat of a Lifetime. With a network of over 200 host families across Jerusalem, they match groups with the best fit to ensure a special Shabbat experience. This event is included in your tour and will take place the evening of Friday, July 1, 2022 in Jerusalem.

Monday June 27, 2022

Start the day by driving along the shoreline to Caesarea. See the remains of the once magnificent port built by Herod the Great as well as the ancient theater and the hippodrome. See the site where Paul appeared before Festus and King Agrippa before he was sent to Rome, and simply enjoy the air and the view of the Mediterranean Sea. Drive to Valley of Jezreel and visit Gideon's Spring the place where Gideon gathered and chose his best warriors before fighting the Midianites. Drive to Megiddo, known also as Armageddon, see the impressive remains of this "chariot city" from the time of King Solomon, as well as the great water system, built by King Ahab. Visit Mount Tabor, which many believe to be the site of the Transfiguration of Christ. Overnight: Kibbutz Lavi Hotel, Galilee Region

TUesday June 28, 2022

Start the day with a visit the Baptism site "Yardenit" situated at the southern end of the Sea of Galilee. After, we’ll see the outstanding Byzantine mosaic floor of the Church of Multiplications and the Mensa Christi Church. Continue to Capernaum to see the town that Jesus chose as his home. Visit the recently excavated site of Magdala where a 1st century synagogue was discovered. Take a Boat Ride on a boat resembling that of ancient times. Enjoy a fish lunch and have a swimming break at the beach. Drive to the Mount of Beatitudes to recall the Sermon on the Mount. Enjoy the view and recall some of Jesus's most famous parables. Our day will conclude with a visit to Tabgha, where Jesus fed 5,000. Overnight: Kibbutz Lavi Hotel, Galilee Region

Visit Nazareth Village: based on solid New Testament scholarship and the most up-to-date archaeology, Nazareth Village brings to life a farm and Galilean village, recreating Nazareth as it was 2,000 years ago. Drive south to Beersheva, capital of the Negev, short city tour and visit Tel Be’er Sheva, the area in which Abraham lived and worked in. Drive to Mitzpe Ramon, a development town, 1035 m above sea level, to see Makhtesh Ramon the world's largest erosion-based crater to embrace the desert experience where the Israelites once wandered and learned to trust the Lord as Shepherd along their way to the Promised Land. THursday JUNE 30, 2022

Visit Sde Boker, former home and burial place of David Ben Gurion (first Israeli prime minister). Continue to Ein Avdat National Park, located in a beautiful canyon in the Negev desert. The Ein Avdat Spring flows down in a waterfall towards a pool of water. The oasis created by the springs attracts ibex and other animals. Visit a Bedouin Camp and experience the known Bedouin hospitality and camel ride. Drive to the Dead Sea the lowest place on earth! Experience floating on the Dead Sea. Friday July 1, 2022

First, visit the Masada Fortress. Ascend and descend by cable car or by foot, take a walking tour of the fortress, and learn why the site became a symbol of Jewish heroism. Continue to beautiful oasis of Ein Gedi and visit David’s Waterfalls and cave. Drive to Qumran, visit the site of the Essene community, and view the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. If time permits - drive through the Jordan Valley to Jericho, situated well below sea level north of the Dead Sea, Jericho is the lowest permanently inhabited site on earth, it is also believed to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. Saturday july 2, 2022

Visit the City of David. This famous archaeological site is speculated to compose the original urban core of ancient Jerusalem. See the different layers that were uncovered above the ground and then go down to the hidden spring where the coronation of kings was held. Explore the underground mysteries of Hezekiah’s Tunnel, where water has flowed since the time of the prophets. Continue through a section of the Second Temple period drainage channel all the way to the monumental foundation stones of the Western Wall at the foot of the Temple Mount. Visit the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus cured a cripple. Next to the Jewish Quarter and walk through the Cardo. We proceed now to the Western Wall, the last remaining wall of the 2nd Jewish Temple. From here, we visit the Southern Steps, this is where Peter preached the story of salvation to the crowds and where 3,000 were baptized in Mikves. Before we leave the Old City, go up and visit the Temple Mount and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. We will finish the day at the Mahane Yehuda, a local Jewish Shuk. Overnight: Dan Jerusalem Hotel, Jerusalem

Sunday July 3, 2022

Drive to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Walk down the Mount and see the oldest cemetery in the world and then continue to the Garden of Gethsemane. Visit Mount Zion, including Caiaphas' House, the Tomb of David and the Room of the Last Supper. Walk through the Old City. Continue through the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Walk through the Jewish Quarter to see the Western Wall. Visit the Garden Tomb. Overnight: Dan Jerusalem Hotel, Jerusalem

Monday July 4, 2022

The last day will be very busy and there may not be enough time for all sites listed. Time permitting, drive past the Supreme Court and a view of the Knesset and the Knesset Menorah. Drive to Bethlehem and visit the Church of Nativity and the Shepherds Fields. Time permitting, visit the Aida Refugee Camp. Visit Yad Vashem, the Memorial museum for the victims of the Holocaust. Visit the Israel Museum to view the “Shrine of the Book” (exhibition of the Dead Sea Scrolls) and a model of Jerusalem from the time of Herod the Great. We will end the day with dinner and time to share your memories and experiences before transferring to the airport for flight home. Departure TLV shortly after midnight on 7/5/2022.
